    Report Overview

    According to DRAMeXchange, a research division of TrendForce, the fire accident experienced by SK Hynix's Wuxi plant has led to a sudden surge in market demand. As the damages experienced by the plant turned out to be relatively severe, no official word has been given as to when the company's future production will resume. The tightening of the supplies and the fact that PC DRAM is the said manufacturer's mainstream product have led the spot prices for mainstream 2Gb chips to soar by an whopping 44.5% since the 9/4 fire incident (the calculation is based on the chip's agreed price of $US 2.294 on 9/16). The contract prices that are about to be announced during September, it is worth noting, are also anticipated to show a growth of at least 10%...
