The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) announced the five major development trends for robots at the end of January 2025, and discussed issues including diversified and pragmatic AI applications, single-purpose humanoid robots, sustainability and energy consumption, expansions of new fields and clients, as well as solutions to labor shortages. In comparison with the focus placed on technology such as mobile robotic arms and digital twins back in 2024, IFR has become more aware of how robot development is affected by the general economy in 2025.
