The LED cinema screen market has been heating up this year, especially in China. Driven by government policies, Chinese LED display companies like China Film Global Technology Limited (CFGDC), HUAXIA LEYARD, QSTECH, Unilumin, and LOPU are actively promoting LED cinema screen solutions.
According to incomplete statistics from LEDinside, China had opened over 50 LED cinemas by the end of October, with 30 new additions in 2024 alone.
Now, Chinese companies are not only focusing on the domestic LED cinema market but are also actively bringing domestically produced LED cinema screens to the larger global market.
Recently, China Film Group Corporation (CFGC) revealed that a new cinema in Dinkelsbühl, Germany, has purchased 10 sets of CFGDC’s CINITY LED projection systems, establishing a fully CINITY LED cinema.

Information shows that CINITY LED is an LED cinema screen product jointly developed by AOTO and CFGDC. It supports 4K 120fps high-frame-rate projection, complies with the DCI-P3 color gamut standard, and offers a maximum 2D brightness of 87fL and a maximum 3D single-eye brightness of 17fL.
Chinese LED Cinema Screens Reverse-Exported to Overseas Markets
Europe, North America, Japan, and South Korea have mature film technology industries, giving companies from these regions a significant presence in the cinema sector. In the LED cinema screen market, Samsung and LG currently hold dominant positions.
However, with the proactive efforts of Chinese LED companies, Chinese LED cinema screens are being reverse-exported, accelerating their expansion into the global market and competing with international players.
For instance, LEYARD, a well-known LED display company, has long focused on overseas cinema markets for its LED cinema screen business. Its products have been installed and used in over 20 international cinemas, including Alcazar Cinema in France, CGV Buena Park in the US, and Odeon Multicines in Spain.

In July of this year, Rio-tech, in collaboration with Timewaying, announced that the first HeyLED cinema screen in Europe had been officially installed at Inspire Cinema in Romania. The 10-meter HeyLED 2K LED cinema screen used in the theater has passed Hollywood DCI certification and boasts advantages such as high brightness, high contrast, high dynamic range, and elimination of the need for projectors and projection rooms. Furthermore, it’s reported that HeyLED cinema screens have been installed in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East since their launch.

LOPU previously released a fully transparent LED cinema screen and has received purchase intentions from overseas customers. LOPU observed that a new generation of young overseas investors are exploring diversified cinema operation models and are highly interested in LED screens. LOPU believes its fully transparent LED cinema screens will soon be widely adopted overseas.
At CinemaCon, held in April this year, Cineappo showcased its VLED cinema screen products. Cineappo noted strong interest from overseas cinema operators in LED cinema screens, anticipating that they will bring revolutionary changes to cinema projection.
TrendForce estimates that global installations will reach 160 units this year. In the long term, the global market stock of high-end cinema screens is approximately 30,000 units, but the current penetration rate of LED cinema screens is only 0.5%. This indicates significant growth potential for LED display technology in the high-end cinema screen market.
With the continued efforts of Chinese companies, domestically produced LED cinema screen products are poised to expand from the domestic market to the broader global stage.
