According to a report from Liberty Times, citing Tom’s Hardware, NVIDIA is developing a special version of the GeForce RTX 5090D graphics card for the Chinese market to comply with U.S. export control policies, as renowned leaker MEGAsizeGPU shared an image of the GPU’s standard box art on X, though the post is currently deleted.

The report from Tom’s Hardware indicates that the RTX 5090D, with the “D” standing for Dragon, might launch alongside its global version in January.

The RTX 4090D was launched in December last year, more than a year after the release of the RTX 4090, as the report points out. According to the report, this particular variant was designed for enthusiasts in China, while adhering to US trade policy, as NVIDIA was restricted from exporting the RTX 4090 to China, which is nearly 12% faster.

The shared image showcases the RTX 5090D logo, commonly seen on GPU box. The design retains its familiar style, utilizing the “NVIDIA Sans Nala” font first introduced with the RTX 40 series. The report points out that since the RTX 4090D did not have a Founders Edition, it is anticipated that its successor will follow a similar trend.

According to the report, Jensen Huang is anticipated to introduce the RTX 50 “Blackwell” GPU lineup during CES 2025. The report highlights that flagship GPUs, including the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, are rumored to launch first in January, followed by the mid-ranged RTX 5070 models. Furthermore, the RTX 5060 series is expected to be released in April.
