[News] Samsung and LG Consider Moving Home Appliance Production from Mexico to U.S. Amid Potential Tariff Hikes

According to Central News Agency, citing South Korean media outlet The Korean Economic Daily, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are reportedly considering relocating part of their home appliance production from Mexico to the U.S.

The report, citing Reuters, highlights that Samsung and LG are considering these relocations in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of plans to impose a 25% tariff on products imported from Mexico and Canada, starting February 1.

Sources suggest that Samsung Electronics is considering moving its dryer production line from Mexico to its facility in South Carolina. Similarly, LG is reportedly evaluating the transfer of its refrigerator production line from Mexico to its Tennessee factory, which currently produces dishwashers and dryers.

As mentioned by Reuters, Samsung Electronics states that it operates production facilities across various regions globally and will closely monitor the situation to adapt flexibly. Meanwhile, LG Electronics indicates that it plans to adjust its production systems and locations to effectively respond to market changes, as the report notes.
