According to a report from ijiwei, citing Business Korea, Samsung Electronics is actively recruiting engineers with over two years of experience in the memory chip sector in Taiwan. This hiring initiative is part of an expanded effort to enhance its expertise in the memory sector, with a particular focus on AI accelerators.

Samsung’s recruitment efforts extend beyond Taiwan. As the report highlights, the company has also been listing job openings in the U.S. for positions within its General AI (AGI) Computing Lab and Advanced Processor Lab (APL).

Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to participate in COMPUTEX Taipei this May, marking its return to the event after 13 years. This move is likely to boost its visibility in the chip market and reinforce its recruitment efforts, helping the company maintain its competitive edge in the global semiconductor industry.

Micron Actively Recruits South Korean Talent to Boost HBM

In addition to Samsung, Micron has also been ramping up efforts to hire semiconductor engineers to strengthen its position in the HBM market, which is crucial for AI applications, according to a report from Korea Bizwire.

As Korea Bizwire highlights, Micron has been conducting job interviews at hotels near Seoul’s tech hub, Pangyo, aiming to recruit engineers from Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and other leading semiconductor firms. The positions primarily focus on DRAM production and HBM development at Micron’s Taichung facility in Taiwan, a key manufacturing site for the company.

Furthermore, Micron has been hiring South Korean engineers for its Hiroshima facility in Japan while actively seeking talent for its HBM packaging plant in Singapore, demonstrating its commitment to expanding its workforce across Asia, as noted by Business Korea.

CXMT Aggressively Poaches South Korean Semiconductor Talent

Beyond Micron, China’s ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) has also been aggressively recruiting semiconductor talent from South Korea. As reported by The Korea Economic Daily, and cited by The Liberty Times, South Korea’s semiconductor sector is facing a severe talent drain, with Chinese firms like CXMT actively poaching engineers from industry giants Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.

Notably, 35% of CXMT’s engineers are reportedly South Korean, posing a significant threat to the long-term sustainability of the nation’s semiconductor industry, as highlighted by The Korea Economic Daily.
