[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: SK hynix Props up DDR5 Prices while DDR4 Momentum Hits Brakes

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, only SK hynix’s products have seen price increases, while other DDR5 chips and modules have mostly stabilized. Meanwhile, DDR4 spot prices have stalled this week. As for NAND flash, the NAND wafer spot market started to recover in purchase sentiment this week, boosted by buy orders of high-capacity products. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

Similar to the situation in the contract market, only SK hynix’s products have experienced price hikes. The prices of other DDR5 chips and modules have at most stabilized, but any price increases are sporadic and not significant. Additionally, a large amount of low-priced products from Samsung has now entered the market, causing price fluctuations. The upward momentum of DDR4 spot prices has stalled this week, following the temporary price upswing they experienced last week. This again reflects the fact of demand shifting from DDR4 to DDR5. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., 1Gx8 3200MT/s) fell by 0.28% from US$1.451 last week to US$1.447 this week.

NAND Flash Spot Price:

The NAND wafer spot market started to recover in purchase sentiment this week, where buyers are seen with ongoing releases of inquiries, followed by buy orders of high-capacity products. Despite buyers offering prices lower than market prices, some of the sellers are willing to accept the compromise, which led to sporadic conclusions, and slightly brought up the level of market transactions. 512Gb 3D wafers, regarded as the most essential indicator in the spot market, are restricted in price hikes, but have explicitly halted in reduction. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers have dropped by 0.21% this week, arriving at US$2.420.
