According to a report from Korean media outlet The Financial News, Samsung Electronics’ Semiconductor (DS) Division has formed a Performance Enhancement Task Force (TF) within its foundry business to monitor the Exynos 2600’s performance and stability.
The in-house flagship chip, which is expected to be used in the Galaxy S26, is reportedly set to enter prototype production around May 2025, with a final decision on its inclusion in the Galaxy S26 expected by the end of the year. Additionally, the report states that the Galaxy S26 is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026.
Full Commitment to Advanced 2nm Process Yield Improvements
Citing industry sources, the report indicates that the Performance Enhancement TF is focusing all efforts on improving the 2nm “SF2” process, which will be used in the production of the Exynos 2600.
The report also notes that the Exynos 2500, the predecessor to the Exynos 2600, was manufactured using the 3-nanometer gate-all-around (GAA) process. However, due to low yield rates, it was ultimately not included in the Galaxy S25 series.
According to the Korean media outlet The Bell, citing sources in February 2025, Samsung Electronics has successfully achieved a higher-than-expected initial yield of over 30% in its SF2 (2nm) test production.
As the yield rate begins to stabilize, the company has proactively launched the Performance Enhancement TF to gain a competitive edge over rival products such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series and MediaTek’s Dimensity series, as noted by the report from The Financial News.
As noted in the report, Samsung has been ramping up its efforts to attract major global big-tech customers to its foundry business. Citing industry sources, the report highlights that Samsung has been sending prototype products to NVIDIA as part of its bid to secure foundry contracts for graphics processing units (GPUs). Additionally, as the report indicates, AMD has reportedly hinted at the possibility of shifting some of its core chip production from TSMC to Samsung.
