[News] NVIDIA to Unveil GB300 at GTC, with Shipment Reportedly to Begin in May, Driving Cooling Demands

With NVIDIA’s GTC set for mid-March, supply chain sources cited by the Economic Daily News suggest the GB300 AI chip will be unveiled, making it one of the biggest highlights of the event. With higher power consumption, GB300 is expected to drive greater cooling demands. According to the report, the product will introduce more cold plates, with UQD (Universal Quick Disconnect) usage quadrupling from GB200.

Meanwhile, amid rumors that NVIDIA may reduce CoWoS-S orders due to the GB200 transition, industry sources suggest that GB300 could start shipping as early as May, accelerating the replacement of GB200.

In addition to driving cooling demand with the launch, TrendForce reports that NVIDIA plans to strategically promote the B300 and GB300 lines—which utilize CoWoS-L technology—thereby boosting the demand for advanced packaging solutions.

UQD Demand to Quadruple in GB300

The Economic Daily News notes that NVIDIA began adopting liquid cooling with GB200, aiming to gradually replace traditional air cooling solutions. As GB300 offers even greater computing power and higher power consumption, the product will feature fully liquid cooling, bringing massive gains for Taiwan’s top cooling module companies, including Auras and Asia Vital Components.

The report notes that UQDs, which transport coolant and ensure smooth operation of water-cooling components, are the most leak-prone part of the system. With GB300 possibly needing four times as many UQDs as GB200, the market is expected to face a shortage, the report suggests.

Among Taiwanese suppliers, Auras is reported to provide cooling modules to NVIDIA, while its subsidiary, Fositek, has also made strides in the UQD market, beginning mass production for NVIDIA’s GB200 and GB300, according to Economic Daily News. Fositek Chairman Tsu Mo Huang told the publication that orders are overwhelming, supply is tight, and shipments are expected to increase severalfold.

Global Tek, another Taiwanese AI server connector supplier, has begun delivering its products to GB200, while UQDs for GB300 are in final development, aligning with customer schedules, according to the report.
