DeepSeek’s success in January sent shockwaves through the industry. According to a report from ijiwei, citing The Conversation, some other Chinese companies are also making waves and are poised to disrupt the tech industry. The following highlights four such companies set to transform the industry.
1. DJI Innovations
DJI Innovations, established in 2006 by Frank Wang—who later became Asia’s youngest tech billionaire at 36—specializes in affordable drones designed for aerial photography and videography, as highlighted in the report. The company not only engineers drone systems but also develops camera technology and software, serving various industries such as agriculture and defense. Additionally, the report notes that DJI’s technology has been utilized in the production of popular TV series like Better Call Saul and Game of Thrones.
2. Unitree Robotics
Unitree Robotics, a spin-off of DJI Innovations founded in 2016, specializes in quadruped and humanoid robots, as well as robotic components like robotic arms. As noted by a report from Voice of America, its humanoid robot G1 made a striking impression at China’s Spring Festival Gala with martial arts-like movements.
According to TrendForce, leading Chinese humanoid robot manufacturers include Unitree Robotics, Fourier, and UBTECH. Chinese companies are actively developing coreless motors, 6D force-torque sensors, and harmonic drives, key components for humanoid robot mobility.
3. Game Science
Game Science, a Chinese video game company founded in 2014, saw massive success with its August 2024 release of Black Myth: Wukong, as the report notes. This game has become one of the fastest-selling games in history, generating over USD 1.1 billion in revenue and surpassing 25 million copies sold. The game’s success further strengthens China’s growing influence in the global gaming market, as highlighted by the report.
4. Yonyou
Founded in 1988, Yonyou provides business and accounting solutions tailored to the Chinese market. As the report notes, the company has expanded to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, offering localized products at competitive prices to accommodate the diverse business systems in each region.
