[News] Micron Rumored to Raise NAND Price by 11% as Global Trend Heats Up

As NAND giants prepare for price hikes, a 10% uptick seems to be the industry consensus. Notably, reports from TechNews and MyDrivers suggest that Micron is targeting an 11% increase.

The reports link Micron’s price hike to a January power outage at its Singapore plant, which tightened supply. According to Forbes, the majority of Micron’s NAND memory is produced in Singapore.

Prior to Micron, SanDisk has announced plans to increase prices by over 10% starting April 1. Meanwhile, MyDrivers reports that China’s largest NAND manufacturer, YMTC, is also set to increase prices next month. While the exact percentage remains unclear, the report suggests it could exceed 10%.

In addition, South Korean memory giants like Samsung and SK hynix may not be far behind, as industry sources indicate they’re also gearing up to raise NAND wafer prices next month.

The TechNews report notes that to counter oversupply, Micron, Samsung, SK hynix, and Kioxia resumed production cuts in late 2024 to curb NAND price declines. While less drastic than previous cuts, the move helps stabilize supply-demand balance, the report adds.

TrendForce expects the supply-demand balance to improve significantly in the second half of the year. Key factors contributing to this shift include proactive production cuts, inventory reductions in the smartphone sector, and growing demand driven by AI and DeepSeek applications, as highlighted by TrendForce.
