While Apple has yet to debut a foldable iPhone, Samsung seems to be pushing the boundaries of foldable tech. According to SamMobile, the tech giant is not only preparing for a dual-folding smartphone but might also be exploring tri-fold and even quad-fold designs. Here’s the latest on Samsung’s bold foldable ambitions.
Quad-Foldable Patent Filed
As per SamMobile, though these futuristic devices may take time to arrive, Samsung’s latest patent reveals a quad-fold device with three hinges and a single flexible display, pushing foldable tech even further. In addition, the report suggests that the patent also details a tri-fold device with two hinges, a USB-C port, and a triple-camera setup—possibly the model teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2025.
First Dual-folding Phone Nearing?
Meanwhile, SamMobile indicates that Samsung may be launching its dual-folding phone soon after the debut of its first foldable six years ago. However, the product may be limited to China and Korea, the report adds.
Citing information from the GSMA database, the report mentions a yet-to-be-announced Samsung device, model SM-F968. The product is said to come with two variants, SM-F9680 and SM-F968N, implying they may be limited to certain markets.
As per the report, Samsung may first test durability and quality in select markets before a broader launch. However, a global variant could still emerge closer to its official unveiling.
