21 November 2014

The consumer electronics market has been go-go in November because of the many sales promotions this month, notably China’s Double 11 (November 11) shopping holiday, which earned NT 270 billion dollars in revenue. With Black Friday (November 28) in Europe and America coming up at the end of the month, the market is hoping for another big boost.

29 October 2014

Global notebook shipments reached 45.8 million units in the third quarter, an increase of 7.2% over the quarter ending in June and 4.2% over the same period last year, according to TrendForce. Among the top 7 notebook vendors, shipment growth was an exceptional 8.6%. 28 October 2014

Tablet shipments grew 19.7% to hit a historical high of 22.5 million in September as vendors prepared to ship Apple’s updated iPad models in the fourth quarter, according to WitsView, a division of the Taiwan-based market intelligence firm TrendForce. Additionally, 21.5 million LCD TV panels were shipped in September, a 1.4% decrease on month. Monitor panel shipments were the same as in August at 13.36 million units.

Panel prices set to fall in fourth quarter, says TrendForce

21 October 2014

In the fourth quarter of 2014, price trends for the TV and notebook panel segments will diverge. Despite lackluster sales during China’s week-long October National Day holiday, TV panel prices have continued to rise, but with notebook demand forecast to begin dropping off this month – it has been robust up to this point – and continue to fall throughout the fourth quarter, price growth in that segment will slow, according to WitsView.
