The March 2014 LCD monitor shipment by brands and SI makers surged by 20.6% and 32.1% respectively, according to the survey by WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce. The surge was mainly attributed to the lower base period for February shipment, topped with several brands actively pushing for sales performance for the financial quarter-end in March.
The NB shipment for Q1’14 reached 40.5 M units, declining 12% QoQ because of the traditional slow season and the inventory accumulated since Q4 last year that needed to be digested, according to the latest NB shipment survey by WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce. “As all brands roll out new models, the Q2 NB shipment seeks growth in the slow season and is likely to challenge higher-than-3% rise with the strategic distribution,” says Caroline Chen, Witsview’s Assistant Research Manager.
The 32”-42” panel prices increase USD 1-3 and the 46”-55” panels show narrowed prices drops in April 2014, according to TrendForce panel research division WitsView’s latest mid-and large-sized panel shipment research report. The monitor panel capacity was still constrained, the 21.5” monitor panel saw a small increase USD 0.2, and the 24”W was affected by the capacity adjustment and order transfer of 23.6” W TN. The 23.6”W and 24”W TN panel prices will stay flat or rise by USD 0.3. The remaining main sizes of monitor panels will see unchanged prices.
Large-sized panel shipment rose 11% MOM in March 2014 to 66.57 million units, according to TrendForce panel research division WitsView’s latest panel shipment research report. “After reaching a restocking peak in March, large-sized panel demands will wane in April,”said Witsview Senior Research Manager Jeffy Chen. “Overall large-sized panel shipment will decline 6-7%, TV panels to drop 4-5%, while monitor and NB panel shipments will fall 7% and 14% respectively. Tablet panel shipments will remain similar to March or rise slightly by 1%.”
The notebook (NB) shipment in February 2014 decreased 9.3% compared to previous month to 12.3 million units due to inventory adjustments, fewer work days and labor shortage.
