Tablet Shipment Rebounds in April with Projected 15%-20% Growth in May, says TrendForce

The large-sized panel shipment decreased by 2% MoM to 65.29M units in April. With growing tablet panel demand, the large-sized panel shipment is expected to increase by 5% in May, according to the latest survey by WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce.

Chinese Labor Day LCD TV Sales Declines, Overall Inventory Only 4.7 Weeks, says TrendForce

The sales result for the Labor Day holidays in China was weaker than previous projections, reaching a total of 3.738 million units and declining 10.2% YoY during the three weeks around Labor Day holidays, , according to WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce, and Σintell. Chinese brands’ inventory only rose slightly to 4.7 weeks. During Labor Day week, international brands’ sales performed well while Chinese top six brands showed a decline of 13%. From t2H2013, the ratio of 3D LCD TV has been dropping gradually with the penetration rate declining to below 30% during the Labor Day Holidays, while the UD LCD TV penetration rate surpassed 10% for the first time, with a sales volume of 42.2 million units.

The March 2014 LCD monitor shipment by brands and SI makers surged by 20.6% and 32.1% respectively, according to the survey by WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce. The surge was mainly attributed to the lower base period for February shipment, topped with several brands actively pushing for sales performance for the financial quarter-end in March.

NB Shipment Eases Decline and Seeks Growth in Slow-Season Q2, Says TrendForce

The NB shipment for Q1’14 reached 40.5 M units, declining 12% QoQ because of the traditional slow season and the inventory accumulated since Q4 last year that needed to be digested, according to the latest NB shipment survey by WitsView, the display research division of TrendForce. “As all brands roll out new models, the Q2 NB shipment seeks growth in the slow season and is likely to challenge higher-than-3% rise with the strategic distribution,” says Caroline Chen, Witsview’s Assistant Research Manager.
