Worldwide notebook shipments in the first quarter of 2016 arrived at 35.62 million units, according to the global market research firm TrendForce. The first quarter was the traditional off season for the notebook market and retailers still needed time to clear out their existing inventories. Hence, total shipments fell 19% from the prior quarter and also declined 7.3% year on year.

The global average sales price (ASP) of 40W-equivalent (equiv.) LED light bulbs fell 5.9% in April compared with the prior month, arriving at US$9.7, while the ASP of 60W-equiv. LED light bulbs fell 7.2% to US$13.1. LED light bulb prices in China have been on a downtrend because of sales activities related to the Chinese Labor Day holiday period, said Allen Yu, analyst for LEDinside, a division of TrendForce.
