Total smartphone shipments for 2015 are projected to decline by 9.7% to 1.286 billion units, according to the latest report from global market research firm TrendForce. Though Chinese vendors have seen their shipments weakened as part of the ongoing slowdown in the worldwide smartphone market this year, their performances are above the global average.
According to the latest large-size panel report by WitsView, a division of TrendForce, TV panel shipments totaled 22.93 million units in October, down 6.3% from September but up 6.4% from a year ago. “Stocking up for year-end sales was winding up in October,” said WitsView analyst Iris Hu.
The latest report from DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, finds that NAND flash prices fell rapidly in the third quarter, resulting in a mere 2.4% quarterly increase in the global NAND Flash revenue. Sean Yang, assistant vice president of DRAMeXchange, said demand was uncharacteristically weak in the third quarter and did not adhere to the seasonal pattern.
