According to WitsView, a research division of TrendForce, since the TFT-LCD industry posted a stronger than usual traditional weak seasonality in 1Q10, downstream customers were aggressive in restocking earlier in 2Q10 under the expectation of the insufficient panel supply in 3Q10.
While LCD TV has grown rapidly in sales since 2006, its household popularization rate in Japan and the advanced countries in Europe and North America is approaching the peak. While the replacement of CRT with LCD TV has gradually come to an end, LCD TV needs more fresh features to attract consumers to replace their models on hand.
According to the latest surveys by WitsView, a research division of TrendForce, shipments from the global top ten brand vendors added by 1.2% MoM to 12.42M units in October 2010, and shipments from the global top ten SIs continued the momentum of September, and rose by 1.5% MoM to 14.06M units.
