TrendForce reports that global smartphone production in the last quarter of 2024 reached 334.5 million units, reflecting a 9.2% QoQ increase, driven by Apple’s peak production season and consumer subsidies from local Chinese governments. While Apple expanded production with the launch of new models, Samsung faced production declines due to intensified competition in emerging markets.
TrendForce’s latest research reveals that the global foundry industry exhibited a polarized trend in 4Q24. Advanced process nodes benefited from strong demand in AI servers, flagship smartphone application processors (APs), and new PC platforms, driving high-value wafer shipments. This growth helped offset the slowdown in mature process demand, allowing the top 10 foundries to achieve nearly 10% QoQ revenue growth, reaching US$38.48 billion, and marking another industry record.
TrendForce’s latest research shows that 4Q24 enterprise SSD demand remained stable compared to the previous quarter, driven by the arrival of NVIDIA H-series products and continued procurement from large CSPs in China. However, contract prices stagnated due to weakness in the consumer electronics market, ultimately keeping levels at Q3 levels. Consequently, enterprise SSD revenue for major suppliers totaled US$7.34 billion, marking a slight 0.5% QoQ decline.
TrendForce’s latest findings reveal that TSMC has announced it’s increasing investment in U.S. advanced semiconductor manufacturing, bringing the total to US$165 billion. Mass production is expected to begin after 2030 if the three newly planned fabs proceed on schedule. The U.S., which has been actively expanding its advanced semiconductor capacity, is projected to hold 22% of the global market share by 2030.
TrendForce’s latest report, “Breakthrough Opportunities in the 5G Era: Global Telecom FWA Deployment and Business Prospects for Taiwanese Manufacturers,” shows the global fixed wireless access (FWA) market is projected to grow 33% YoY, reaching US$72 billion in 2025.
