Spec Shift in TV and IT Panels Brings Hopes to Prices for 2H’14, says TrendForce

The 32”-42” panel prices increase USD 1-3 and the 46”-55” panels show narrowed prices drops in April 2014, according to TrendForce panel research division WitsView’s latest mid-and large-sized panel shipment research report. The monitor panel capacity was still constrained, the 21.5” monitor panel saw a small increase USD 0.2, and the 24”W was affected by the capacity adjustment and order transfer of 23.6” W TN. The 23.6”W and 24”W TN panel prices will stay flat or rise by USD 0.3. The remaining main sizes of monitor panels will see unchanged prices.

Large-sized Panel Shipment Up 11% in March 2014, says TrendForce

Large-sized panel shipment rose 11% MOM in March 2014 to 66.57 million units, according to TrendForce panel research division WitsView’s latest panel shipment research report. “After reaching a restocking peak in March, large-sized panel demands will wane in April,”said Witsview Senior Research Manager Jeffy Chen. “Overall large-sized panel shipment will decline 6-7%, TV panels to drop 4-5%, while monitor and NB panel shipments will fall 7% and 14% respectively. Tablet panel shipments will remain similar to March or rise slightly by 1%.”

The notebook (NB) shipment in February 2014 decreased 9.3% compared to previous month to 12.3 million units due to inventory adjustments, fewer work days and labor shortage.

4K2K TV Penetration Rate to Reach 5.6% in 2014, says TrendForce

The 2014 panel industry is full of unpredictability, with 4K2K TV becoming the key to TV market growth this year. The 4K2K TV’s penetration rate will reach 5.6% for the whole year, based on projections by WitsView, the display research division of the global intelligence provider TrendForce. Ambitious Chinese manufacturers will have a chance to reach 15-17% market penetration rate, putting them in the lead of Korean, Japanese and other rivals.

TrendForce : Large-sized Panel Shipment in Feb Downs 4%; BOE Tablet Share Surpasses Taiwanese Manufacturers

According to the survey for Feb. 2014 by WitsView, the display research division of the global intelligence provider TrendForce, the large-sized panel shipment in the month came to 61.58 million units, dropping 4% MoM. In March, due to the distribution demands for May 1st holidays and brands’ launches of new models, the overall large-sized panel shipment is expected to climb 8%. The TV panel will rise 13%, the monitor and NB panel shipments will grow 12% and 6% respectively, and the tablet panel shipment is expected to stay flat as February or decline 5%.
